"Pizza" Framed Art
Is this a slice of pizza made from a bouncy house? Yes, but it's also so much more than that.
Certain foods hold specific memories and to me pizza means family. Pizza is Friday nights breaking out the faux wood TV trays and gathering around the couch, sipping chocolate milk (made with Nesquick and served in a tall Tupperware cup) and wiping our greasy fingers with white textured napkins. It meant inviting my best friend down the street (who also counts as family) to join us for dinner which turned into crafting until the wee hours of the morning.
Nostalgic food made from nostalgic materials because I could also tell you about the bouncy house at the backyard birthday party and that one time we got a short-lived summer job at a carnival letting kids on and off the inflatable rides.
Yes it's a pizza slice made from a bouncy house, but it's also memories.

This piece is part of a bigger collection of work inspired by my experience of being a mom- losing my own just as I was becoming one myself, the overwhelming joy (and frustration, love and unqualified-ness) of motherhood all while honoring our place within Mother Nature.
A major part of my process includes repurposing materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Because there's already enough cool stuff in the world and we don't have to start from scratch to make something new.
